The Official Louisville Wooden Nickel
BUILD Introduced Tuesday the newly minted Louisville Wooden Nickel. This token of welcome will be be presented to special guests during special events as a gesture of hospitality and to encourage visitors to explore and sample the many things that Louisville Businesses have to Offer.
BUILD is creating special Hospitality Kits for registered visitors during the upcoming District Wrestling Tournament that Louisville is Hosting February 12th, and 13th
The Hospitality Kit they receive will include a Business Directory, a description of planned future Community Events, Nickels to spend in Louisville, and a guide describing which merchants are offering which valuable merchandise in exchange for the Official Louisville Wooden Nickels

Teammates Program
BUILD had an excellent presentation from Allyson Horne
The Regional Coordinator of Teammates Mentoring Program
She spoke about Mentoring and the possibility of a Louisville Chapter
Allyson explained the wonderful experience that mentoring is for both the young people and the mentors. There are Chapters forming in Communities though out the area, and discussions have begun in Louisville.

American Cancer Society Daffodil Days 2010
Please place your orders for your daffodils now -
the deadline is 2/19/10 and flowers will be delivered in March. The flowers
alone come in a bunch of 10 stems for $10 - the signature "Boyd's Bear" with
flowers is $25 and the teal colored signature vase alone (no flowers) is
$15. Availability may be limited based on response so place your orders as

Museum Exhibits
Cass County Museum opened two new temporary exhibits during January. The annual Valentine exhibit contains 132 Valentines ranging in date from the 1880s to the 1950s. Many are on view for the first time, having been donated in the past year by Neil Lancaster and FloraBelle Wehrbein.
“Strike up the Band”, an exhibit of Cass County Bands from 1883 to 1910, is also on display. The photographs include bands from the MWA, Burlington shops, Wabash, Plattsmouth, and Murdock.
Both exhibits run through March 6.
The museum's Brown Bag series begins Tuesday, February 9, with a program by Dan Reis on Photo Conservation.
Cass County Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. For additional information, call the museum 296-4770.

celebrate the seventeenth annual Play-the-Recorder Month in March by
offering a Beginning Recorder Workshop on Saturday, March 13, from 1 PM
- 3 PM. Deborah Greenblatt, Master Artist with the Nebraska Arts
Council, and member of the American Recorder Society, will lead the
workshop. Pre-registration is required, and enrollment is limited.

Founded in 1939, the American Recorder Society is celebrating 70 years
of service to its members and constituents--all recorder players
including amateurs to leading professionals, students to teachers. It
has some 130 chapters and consorts in the U.S. and Canada, where its
membership base is over 2200, plus 130 members in 28 other countries.
Play-the-Recorder Month grew out of an event staged as part of an "ARS
50" anniversary celebration, during which members all over the world
played a recorder piece simultaneously on April 1, 1989.
Play-the-Recorder Day was first officially held in 1992, and then
expanded to Play-the-Recorder Month the following year.

Happy February, Readers!
Since we're in the SECOND month of the year, and the SECOND day of this month is a holiday, and this is the SECOND time I have done this newsletter, I was thinking about the importance of the number TWO. There are so many things to be thankful for that come in twos (or pairs)...
* two hands
* two legs
* two ears
* two thumbs
* two pinky fingernails
* two (you fill in the blank)
As you can see, two is quite an important number. We really ought to be having TWICE as much fun with all of the doubles! :) Think about the number two as we make our way through the weary winter days, bleak and gray...
And let's all hope...
for TWO days of sunshine in a row! (even though Punxsutawney Phil promises six more weeks of winter!!)
