For folks who have never played a fiddle or violin,

Schoolhouse Fiddle Workshop
for Folks Who Have Never Fiddled
 
Championship fiddler and fiddle book author, Deborah Greenblatt, will share some hints about beginning fiddling, shopping for a fiddle, reading music, playing by ear, etc. Fiddles will be available for participants to play, and source lists and advice for further study will be provided.  
 
The Workshop takes place on Saturday, January 3, 2009, 1PM - 3 PM, in the Old Avoca Schoolhouse, Avoca, Nebraska.

L.O.V. Award – This is an all encompassing award that should go to a person that volunteers for numerous activities and is that person you can always count on to never say NO when you need someone to help out.


These awards are being given by B.U.I.L.D. (Businesses United in Louisville Development) to Outstanding Volunteers in our community. These individuals do so much for our town and get very little recognition for long hours of hard work that help make our community great!

Wow, 2008..
 
I guess ya didn't see THAT commin Did Ya?
 
I don't ever remember a year with more headlines like: historic this, and record breaking that, and life changing this, and never before that.. Woof..
 
Ok, well, shake it off, it's time to knuckle down!
 
Well, maybe not quite yet. We still have one last traditional rite to perform, and that is sending this crummy old year out with some dignity, or whatever.

The Holy Grail Discovered in Louisville

This is how you define a geek: I have been fixated for more than 10 years, with the fact that the local telephone exchange
 
?.. so what?
 
A normal person would just make a note of that, and get on with life. I could not. See, it occured to me that the numbers 234 are "A" in sequence and "B" at the beginning of dialable numbers on your basic  telephone.Genius!
 
Again, (patiently) SO WHAT???

I kept thinking;

Last Summer I was able to aquire the local number 234-2345 for the Business and all that did, was make me more determined to some day get my hands on the Big Enchilada, the Grand Wazoo, the Holy Grail of telephone numbers. Every year I would try, and every year, they would tell me "Sorry, Reserved" No Further Information Available .
Not Just Louisville, but in all localities that have 234 as their local exchange number, one number was always:
 
 
 
 Grrrr!!
 
Finally I got though to the folks that get things done, the techs that program the actual phone systems switches, :) 
 
I said, can I get this number PLEASE!!!!
 Tech Dude said, "Sure, ..why not!?"
