"Uh-oh, Here Comes
Christmas."
Auditions at the Lofte Community Theatre
October
8, 2009, Manley, NE --The Lofte Community Theatre near Manley announces
that it will be holding open auditions for their holiday production,
"Uh-oh, Here Comes Christmas." Auditions will be held at the theater on
Monday, October 19 and Tuesday, October 20 at 7PM, and will consist of
cold readings from the script. The production will be directed by Kevin
Colbert.
Several
holiday stories from Robert Fulghum, best-selling author of "All I
Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten" have been crafted into
an engaging evening of storytelling and song. This takes a poignant
look at the struggle to find the spirit of the holidays amid the glut
of commercialism that crashes down every December. Parts are available
for 3 men and 2 women of various ages. A pianist is also needed for the
production as it does contain some musical selections.
Performance
dates are December 4-6, 11-13 and 17-20. Questions may be addressed to
Director Kevin Colbert by calling the theater, (402) 234-2553 or by
sending an email to
LofteDirector@Lofte.com

Homeless Schnoodle
Hello NCWP Community Editors,
My name is Jan Young and I live in Plattsmouth. I
really need your help! I was provided your email addresses by Pat Zeigler , the
lady who does the Murray Community newsletter online. I hope that you too can
help with this. Thank you!
I am a member of Happy Paws which is a group
established in February 2009 (Animal Advocacy for the Plattsmouth Animal
Shelter). We are all volunteers, the group is completely non profit (so it's not
funded by anyone and donations go straight to the shelter for the animals and
they are tax deductable) and we are doing fund raisers from time to time to
raise money for the needs of the animals. If we can notify you in advance would
you be able to publish any events we host? It would be a tremendous help and I
(we all) would be so grateful. As a very small shelter in a smaller community we
don't get much notice or publicity about good things.
I don't know if you'll remember or if you were even
aware of it but on May 29, 2009, 35 animals were removed from a very unhealthy
living situation for the humans and animals alike. All of them were taken to the
Plattsmouth Animal Shelter and all that could be placed for adoption were and
with the exception of one little dog, they have all been successfully adopted!
For most people the story (and the interest) ended there but not for Baby
Lynn. Sue Baker (Animal Control Officer) and I, as well as many others are
very concerned that she's been long since forgotten. We're not as big as the
Nebraska Humane Society and don't have a publicity department nor do we have the
resources they do but we need Baby Lynn to get her "five minutes of
fame"!
Can you help and "yes or no" would you please email me
back?
The following is the short story that I wrote but if
you need more information, you can contact me at youngtjl@aol.com or 402-296-2651. Better yet,
contact Sue Baker at sbaker@plattsmouth.org or 402-298-8235
or 402-306-8701.
Thanks, Jan Young
This is Baby Lynn. She is a Schnoodle (Schnauzer Terrier & Poodle
mix) who is between seven and eight years old.
She is desperately needing a loving person (or people) and a happy
forever home. She's had a really sad and lonely existence for the last four
months. She was removed from a home in Plattsmouth that housed way too many pets
(35 total - 30 of them cats and kittens) on May 29, 2009. She has lived at the
Plattsmouth Animal Shelter ever since and all her housemates have since been
adopted - she's the only one left! She is very lonely and cries when put
back in her kennel. She is well taken care of and loved but nevertheless, left
all alone for those long nights at the shelter. She is loved by all but
somehow, still homeless!
She's a delicate, little girl who loves to be cuddled. While she has
gotten along with some of the other shelter residents, she would really prefer
to be your one and only. She has had some minor issues with some of the younger
and feistier dogs and puppies - understandable as she is an older, laid back
girl. Although she gets along fine with humans, younger children might be too
rough for her. If you would like to be a "one dog family", she'd be the "one
dog" for you! She's ideal - instant love and devotion without all the work of
potty and puppy training!
She is VERY SAD to be alone at the shelter and you could be the one to
make the rest of her life
perfect!

Scarecrows are Up!
Turkeys are Getting Fat
This "New Normal" world that has decided to include
Louisville is a bit of pill to swallow.
I guess the new fashion trends all include a healthy dose of nostalgia and old fashioned family comfort.
It is tough to identify stuff that is not in the process of changing long enough to lasoo a tether and hang on. I guess it is going to get more interesting before this year is done.
For me, it takes a hand grenade to change my behavior. I like my routine and I do not like change, unless I have no choice.
Seems those hand grenades have been happening a lot lately!
