High School one-act plays Competition
Manley, NE
The Lofte takes great pride in utilizing the performing arts to give
young people self-confidence and public speaking skills. In that
tradition, the Lofte is preparing to host not one, not two, but three
diffferent high school one-act play competitions this fall! In recent
years, the Lofte has become a popular location for these types of
competitions. Its central location, friendly volunteers and authentic
theater environment are three reasons why school administrators keep
coming back.
All competitions are
open to the public. In general, the competition days begin around 9am.
Schools will take turns performing a 30 minute piece, then there is a
15 minute break to allow for set changes and judges critique. The
competition will last all day. Below is a list of competition dates and
the schools that will be participating.

Louisville One Act
"Once Upon a Beginning"
Louisville
students will be performing "Once Upon a Beginning" by E. Eugene
Perry. Performances are at ECNC competition at 11:15 AM at The Lofte
on November 18, a public performance at 7:30 PM on November 20 at the
Louisville School, and at 10:50 AM at district competition at Midland
Lutheran College on December 2.
Description of the show:
The Old Testament was never like this! Adam (Andrew Debrie) and
Eve (Kelsey Daganaar) are feuding (again), cosmetologist-wanna-be
Delilah (Maylea Bauers) is plotting to make-over Sampson (Ryan
Burnison) and Noah's (Konner Lamb) nameless Wife (Kathryn Edwards) is
frustrated with her near-deaf husband. The whole event is narrated by a
Snake (Kaylee Roach) with a severe attitude problem. She complains
about her lack of feet, explains how she bargained her way onto the
Ark, debates the eat-ability of apples, and questions God about
practically everything. This is a reverently irreverent look at how the
Old Testament might have happened. Maybe!
Additional characters that create a living, interactive Garden of
Eden are played by: Abby Smith, Abbie Tlustos, Alyssa Terry, Caitlin
Cleary, Jordyn Marcoe, Katie Goecker, Kayla Daganaar, Kymee Mitchell,
Lydia Keiter, Micki Vice, Mikeala Ezell, and Natalie Minchow.
You are Invited!

Max Leaves for Iraq - A Year Ago Today
Louisville a Year Later
A year ago today we had different
things on our minds,
I don't remember what the heck I was doing, or worrying about on September 10th 2001 but I'm sure it was something important.
Did not seem so important 24 hours later, whatever it was.
I wasn't paying much attention when Lehman Brothers vaporized on September 15, 2008, didn't seem that important but a year later Global economic ripples affect a large percentage of Louisville's work force bringing uncertainty and stress for Christmas.
I hope Max Cooley is doing ok, a year later in Iraq. I hope we are all doing okay a year from now. I guess I will think about those things that are more within my control
Such As..
Cranberry Sauce!!!
I don't know about you, but Thanksgiving Dinner is just not right without that cold red cylinder. Really good stuff has the ribs on the side visible indicating that it came from an authentic tin can, as it should be.
For all the same reasons...
Yams!
Which is really all about, butter, brown sugar and toasted marshmallows. I am not even completely sure what a yam is.
This Thanksgiving I am going to pay more attention to the people sitting around the table and be a little more Thankful for the really great life that we do have, and then do my traditional face plant in the Mashed Potatoes and Gravy.
Did some one say Gravy???
