Louisville LOV Awards Winners:
The first award goes to the winner of The Unsung Hero: This person has silently volunteered their time to perform an act that has helped our community or individual in our community. This year’s winner is……Jason McClun.
Jason has devoted countless hours to the Volunteer Fire Department. Some of those which are done sitting in meetings ensuring that the fire and rescue are having their needs met so that we are able to better serve the community. Many of those hours are spent training and preparing for major fires that could, and as we have seen last year, do happen. I really think that Jason is one of the unsung heroes we have in Louisville; many people may not know how many hours he devotes to the department.
The next award is for the Business Person of the Year: This person owns or works at a business in Louisville and through that business encourages Louisville volunteerism and community growth. And the winner is…..I should actually say the “winners are”……..Larry & Maureen Gulizia.
Larry & Maureen gave countless hours maintaining the “look” of Main Street. Larry & Maureen were unable to attend this evening.
The next award is the Outstanding School Volunteer: This person volunteers countless hours to our school and helps make the school a better place to be. And the winner is……..Anna Niemoth.
Anna is a 12 year-old home school student and part-time Louisville Public School music student that volunteers as the piano accompanist at LPS. This is her 3rd year. She sometimes goes in before, during and after school to play for the choral groups as they prepare for performances. Just over the past 12 months, she has volunteered 175+ hours as the accompanist for at least 15 choir group songs and 45 solos at all of the school concerts, contests and district music. Miss Burns is able to concentrate on teaching and directing the students without having to play piano also.
The next award tonight is the Lifetime Achievement Award: This person has been in our community for a majority of their lifetime and has contributed throughout their life to making Louisville a great place to live. And the winner is……….Lisa Sheehan.
Lisa Sheehan is an active member of the Royal Neighbors of America. She is currently the secretary of the organization and has been active in the group since she was a teenager. Lisa is also the secretary of the Louisville Library Board and has been for several years. Lisa is not afraid to volunteer for any civic activity which takes much time and energy.
The last award is the LOV award: This is an all encompassing award that should go to a person that volunteers for numerous activities and is the person you can always count on to never say NO when you need someone to help out. And the winner is………The American Legion Auxiliary.
This organization is involved in many causes, the main one being to support the American Legion. Some of their activities include organizing funeral lunches, raising money for and giving scholarships, selecting and sponsoring the annual Girls State winner, donating to several civic causes, visiting the Veteran’s Home, and many more. Louisville is lucky to have a group of women willing to volunteer so much time.
LOV Award Nomenees: Jason McClun, Cathy Stander, Andy Jackman, Pat Schliefert, Anna Niemoth, Larry & Maureen Gulizia, Lisa Sheehan, Betty Heard, Jack Faubion, Lori Pankonin, Lynn Plucknett, Candy McClun, American Legion Auxiliary
