A special meeting of the City Council of the City of Louisville was held on Friday, January 16, 2009, at 6:00 p.m. at the City Hall.  Present were Mayor Alan Mueller, Council Members Roger Behrns, Clete Petrzilka, Randy Jensen and Bob Derby. Also present was City Attorney Roger Johnson. Mayor Mueller stated that the Open Meetings Act is posted at the rear of the room and a copy of all meeting materials is available with the clerk.

Notice of the regular meeting was given in advance thereof by posting in three (3) public places as shown by the certificate attached to these minutes.  Notice was simultaneously given to all council members.  Their acknowledgement of receipt of notice and the agenda is attached to these minutes.  All proceedings thereafter were taken while the convened meeting was open to the public. 

 

Petrzilka moves, Jensen seconds to adopt Resolution 09-01; to call various purpose bonds, 2001 Series, dated December 13, 2001. Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

 

Behrns moves, Derby seconds to adopt Resolution 09-02; to call various purpose bonds, 2002 Series, dated August 1, 2002. Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

 

Derby moves, Behrns seconds to introduce, by title only, and suspend the three required statutory readings of Ordinance #819; Authorizing the issuance of refunding bonds in the principal amount of $640,000. Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote. Behrns moves, Derby seconds to adopt, by title only, Ordinance #819. Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

 

The council discussed the contract with the Cass County Sheriff. Some of the things discussed were accountability for the hours served, and the possibility of renegotiating the contract. It was clarified that the sheriff’s department is obligated to service all of the communities in the county whether or not there is a contract. The discussion was tabled until the February meeting.

 

Derby moves, Petrzilka seconds to adjourn the meeting at 6:17 p.m. Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.
