Memorial Day, aka 'Decoration Day', started after the Civil War as a holiday for Americans to honor all the women and men who perished while serving in the U.S. military. Memorial Day is always the last Monday of May. Millions honor any of their loved ones who have passed, whether they'd been in the military or not.
After this longest, dark year, this most anticipated holiday weekend approaches, heralding the coming of summer. As you enjoy its picnics, parties and campouts, take time to remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice.
