OBITUARY

philip pankonin

PHILIP PANKONIN

Philip “Phil” L. Pankonin passed peacefully on Sunday, July 18, 2021 in Omaha, NE. He was born August 5, 1958.

Phil is survived by his wife, Cathi; children Christopher (Cortnee), Andrew, and Katelyn; his sister, Roxanne (Alan) Nissen; brother David (Lori); In-Laws Chari (Larry) Kelley, Robert (Regina) Reynolds, William (Michelle) Reynolds and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Elwood & Suzanne Pankonin.

Phil was a proud resident of the Louisville, NE community for many years. In high school, he was a part of the LHS 1975 State Championship basketball team. After graduating from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, he became the President of Home State Bank for over 20 years.

Phil was an avid fan of Nebraska athletics, he never missed a Husker football game. His love for music could be heard just about anywhere he could set up his fully loaded iPod and portable Bose stereo.

He cherished his time spent on the lakes of the community - including South Bend, Cedar Creek and Copper Dollar Cove. Phil loved boating and water sports. He could often be found taking his children, nieces, nephews and their friends for tube rides as well as patiently being willing to teach anyone how to water ski.

In addition to his work at the bank, Phil served as a board member of Midlands Community Foundation, Louisville Care Center,  and American Red Cross. He also served on the Floor Committee of the Ak-Sar-Ben Scholarship Ball for many years.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 3-8pm at the Louisville Senior Center, with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m.

A memorial service will be held Friday July 23rd , at 10:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church, Louisville, NE . A private family interment will be held at a later date.

The family suggests memorials be sent to the Louisville Area Foundation or the First United Methodist Church, Louisville, NE

Arrangements by Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home, Louisville, NE. 402-234-3985
