"Nye Health Services Expands with Addition of Louisville Care Community"
Nye Health Services is excited to announce the acquisition of Louisville Care Community (LCC), marking a significant milestone in our commitment to expanding Nye's quality healthcare services. As we transition LCC to Nye’s ownership, we are eager to discuss the numerous benefits and strategies that this new relationship will bring.
We are proud to welcome Louisville Care Community into the Nye family of campuses. LCC has long been recognized for its outstanding reputation and quality service, and we look forward to building upon this strong foundation. The integration of LCC as a Nye campus will not only enhance the services provided but also bring the strength and recognition of the Nye brand to the campus.
“This expansion reflects our commitment to providing exceptional care and innovative services to more communities,” said Kristin Harris, Chief Operating Officer of Nye Health Services. “We are thrilled to welcome the team at Louisville into the Nye family and look forward to supporting them as we grow together.”
Nye Health Services is a trusted healthcare provider in the Omaha area, known for our dedication to exceptional care and service. By associating the Nye brand with LCC, we aim to make a significant impact in the surrounding area and the Omaha market. To achieve this, we are excited to announce the renaming of the campus to “Nye Summit.” This strategic name change will allow us to market more aggressively and successfully, leveraging the strong reputation of Nye Health Services.
“Joining Nye Health Services is an exciting new chapter for our campus,” said Angie Buglewicz, Executive Director of Louisville Care Community. “With the support and resources of Nye, we’re confident that Nye Summit will continue to thrive and deliver the highest standard of care to our residents and families.”
The transition to Nye Summit represents a new era for the campus, one that is characterized by enhanced services, greater recognition, and a continued commitment to excellence. We are confident that this change will benefit both the residents and the community at large.

It's Almost Time for the 2025 Louisville Alumni Banquet
2025 Alumni Association Banquet
May 24 @ 6 p.m.
LHS Gym
It’s “Banquet season” once again for the Louisville Alumni Association! This annual gathering brings together more than 100 Louisville alumni and guests. It’s often a committee of eight to ten people working for months to prepare this catered event, which they host from the high school commons area and gymnasium.
Louisville celebrated its first graduating class in 1896, making 2025 the 129th year LHS has welcomed a new class of graduates into the alumni fold. In the spirit of a reunion, the banquet takes time to recognize special groups of alumni, including those celebrating 10, 25, 40, 50, 60, and 70 years since graduation.
Since 2023, local investment firm Leibman Financial Services has sponsored the banquet, allowing all ticket proceeds to go toward Alumni Association activities such as senior scholarships. The recipients of the 2024 scholarships were Will Josoff and Sam Luellen.
At last year’s banquet, three alumni were invited as guest speakers. Jodi Josoff (1993) spoke about the importance of community and her role as president of the Louisville School Foundation. Penny Baker Kimball (1974) reminisced about her time as a student and the lessons she learned from her years as a parent and educator.
Caitie Leibman (2007) shared how pleased she was to be wearing so many hats at once, as an alum, a member of the banquet planning committee, and a co-owner of Leibman Financial.
“We were so happy to get involved,” Caitie said. “Our work as a registered investment advisor is all about connecting clients’ money to their real lives, and this sponsorship is another way of doing that. We want to help keep these experiences going—the banquet, the scholarships, all of it.”
Jodi’s remarks also focused on the future. She talked about the multidecade history of the School Foundation, especially its efforts to fund scholarships for graduating seniors. Donations, she said, tripled between 2023 and 2024, allowing the Foundation to benefit 20 seniors with 59 scholarships in a total of $41,250.
Further, 75% of the funds come from alumni donations. When people donate, Jodi said, “What you are really giving is possibility.”
Penny shared a similar sentiment: “Remember the people who helped you become who you are today.” She recalled memories of teachers including Mrs. Mayfield, Mr. Grigg, and Mr. Mike Krambeck, who helped bring women’s basketball to Louisville.
True to form, Penny had many wonderful things to share, including an interesting story from Mr. Applegate’s study hall. After Mr. Applegate typed away on an exam for the 1972 seniors in his government class, he showed Penny one of the items the students would be tested on: “True or false? Penny Baker can keep her mouth closed for one hour.”
Penny also shared that she had the chance to attend the high school’s spring Honors Night, where she experienced first-hand the love that the teachers still have for what they do—and the work they put in to make sure the students felt recognized.
Some of those students were in the crowd, volunteering their time as servers for the evening. Dessert featured cupcakes created by student Nola Nelson, owner of Nola Mae Bakery. Nola started her business in 2021 and will graduate from Louisville in May 2025.
Planning committee member Debbi Miller Fontenot (1970) served as program host for the evening and wanted to make sure we soaked up as much wisdom as possible from the community. Debbi helped recognize the two oldest alumni in attendance: Lois Schroeder Cook (1949) was celebrating 75 years since graduation and William Wegener (1950) was right behind her, celebrating 74.
She asked them their advice for reaching such special milestones.
Bill wasn’t so sure. “I’m still looking for the answer,” he laughed. But Lois gave us a little more to go on.
“Hope for the best,” she said. “Just hope for the best.

Power Outage Season - Meet Joey the Outage Superman

Last year, we survived 5 days of no power.
We survived by hanging out at the local - Millard Branch of the Omaha Public Library.
The library had power, and provided free mobile phone charging, air conditioning and critically WiFi.
Our business (and livelihood) depends on nearly constant connection to the internet.
The prior year we had a 2 day power outage, that simply forced an early vacation and nightly hotels where electricity was available.
With the 2025 season of heavy weather, and power outages ahead, we were looking around for a better solution.
We had the great fortune of Meeting Joey Gillett - of Assured Electric.
In my experience a gas powered generator, was a small device with a 120vac outlet. If you had an extension cord you could connect a coffee maker.
Nice, but not a solution for a home with air conditioning, electric stove, washer and dryer. Not a power outage solution.
Power Outage Superman Joey smiled and described a generator that had a 3-phase/240v 50am outlet - and a "smart switch" to switch your home breaker box from OPPD to this small generator.
We were stunned, does this work? - Joey explained he had installed several. We asked Joey for a proposal and it was 1/3 of my expectations.
We asked Joey to proceed! In a short time Joey, and his person Nick - installed the "smart switch" under the electric meter on the back of our home.
The smart switch could sense if power was coming from OPPD - if not it will switch our home to the Generator 240v option - and then back to oppd when they were back.
Wow! What a stress reliever!! for the cost of power outage insurance, we have real power outage insurance!
Power outages, not only some from wind and fallen branches. For years there has been concern that our power grid was vulnerable to attack,
if we found ourself at war, and experienced a high altitude EMP or a natural Solar Flare. Both of which could take out the Power Grid for months
I recommend you give Power Outage Superman Joey a call at: 402-594-4515 or visit his website at https://OmahaElectrician.us email him with the contact form.
thanks Joey - Computer John

COME ON OVER!
This is the way country music started out, with acoustic instruments, before electricity. People sat out on the lawn, on the porch, or in a friend’s house and played their instruments together.
Enjoy the originality of music which is still present in many circles of friends.
