You can call me: 2085
Community expresses itself in many ways
Generally there is support and there are responsibilities but always there is a sense of ownership; a sense of belonging. As In: I am part of this Community, I belong here. We all need some of that.
The Community has a right to expect good behavior, and rewards good behavior with priviledges and support. If you mow your lawn, you get a reward. Your reward is Support which can be just a smile, or it can be volunteer firefighters and paramedics rescuing you from a drainage ditch when that tractor rolls on you. If you can't seem to behave, then you get to sit in the klink. and think about your behavior. That is Community.
It's a pretty good
deal! Never knew about it, till I got down here.
I was struck the other day by a passing comment; "Sure, give me a call, 2083!" Pretty obvious to us all what was meant, but I recognized later that there was a membership element to that comment. You had to be from here, for that comment, that invitation to be valid. You had to be a member of the 234 Tribe for that to work. Seems a small matter, but in this sprawling world of cell phones, and IP addresses, and international 22 digit dialing it just struck me as acknowledgment, recognition, and I felt good to be part of this small 234 Tribe. There is a kinship we have with with Manley , and Cedar Creek they are extended members of the Tribe.
Omaha? Lincoln? No Way! Sorry
As a
Tribe, we are pretty nicely organized: Look at the Main Street Business windows,
and you see: 234-HOME easy to remember if you want to get one. 234-FOOD the MSC is easy to
remember if you are getting hungry. Wayne should check into 234-WOOD, and Jared maybe 234-BANK. Jeff should get 234-JEFF or 234-MILK Bob 234-CARS and Maureen 234-NAIL
WireBuilt is 234-2345 Just 234 twice
with an extra "5" stuck on the end for fun.
234-IRINA was too long
