Louisville Art Gallery

6th Annual Winter Solstice Poetry Reading
Sunday afternoon, December 14, 2008
Gallery hours 1 – 5pm, poetry and Lotus Dancers 2 – 5pm,
Suggested donation of a non-perishable food item for the Cass County Food Bank

Dear Art Lover,

Come celebrate the return of the light! This unique winter celebration includes drumming, poetry, food, drink and belly dancing with the Lotus Dancers. We moved it up a week this year to avoid the last minute shopping crunch, so escape the holiday shopping madness and enjoy fabulous local art in a relaxed setting. Share a favorite poem, or just sit and enjoy the afternoon. The past poetry afternoons have included humorous, poignant, insightful, serious and light-hearted fare all in the same few hours. The Lotus Dancers are professional and entertaining, and in the past have been known to give a few lessons to those brave enough to try their hand (or should I say hips!) at some of the movements. This is a free event, but the donation of a non-perishable food item for the Cass County Food Bank would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to let everyone know that the Louisville Art Gallery will not be closing down this winter as it has done in the past. The main reason for this is that a wonderful local artist named Zach Jones had expressed interest in having a show, and the only date left available in 2009 was in January. So, look for information on the opening that should take place around the third weekend or so of that month, and also think about stopping in after the holidays have wound down. It can be cold and lonely in Louisville in the winter, so stop in and I’ll buy you something hot to drink!

Well, that is finally all for now. Please feel free to pass this along to all of your friends, and if you wish to email me, you can do so at louisvilleartgallery@gmail.com, and if you haven’t been in the Gallery to see “The 7 Year Itch” anniversary show, please make the trip to Louisville as this is a great show and there is still some fantastic work available.

Okay, time to go back to work, so I hope to see you somewhere this weekend. STEVE

PS I almost forgot-Edie Carey returns to the Gallery on Saturday, April 4th. Buy your tickets early, this one sold out fast last year!

From the Editor
Miracle on Main Street
Yes Virginia, it is Really Santa!

I remember Christmas Eve, 40 some years ago, listening to the radio with my parents back in Littleton, Colorado - and a late breaking news bulletin interrupted the Christmas Music:

"We interrupt this program to bring you the latest from NORAD . Ground Radar is tracking an incoming object bearing North, North West at 18,000 feet approaching the Denver Metropolitan Area - Object is exhibiting non-ballistic motion, and appears to be propelled by eight tiny Reindeer".

sleigh.jpg

HUH ??????!!!

I was, ..a little suspicious.. but.. Hey, that was NORAD !
My Dad was Air Force - I knew what NORAD was, I was just hoping that those Russians were not sneaking in..

I glanced at the Christmas Tree, saw that appropriate Milk and Cookies had been prepared, stockings all appeared to be hung by the Chimney with Care..

Ok, I guess it is time to hit the sack!
---------------------------------

Over the years it is easy to become cynical, skeptical, and sophisticated in our reasoning, but Hey!

I got a super Battery Operated Red Race Car

red_car.jpg
 that very Christmas Morning!
That was just what I had on my Christmas List! Plus, all the cookies and Milk were Gone! Seriously!

So, Just Try and Explain That!

Anyways, Saturday I was absolutely stunned that the Real Santa Claus made it all the way to Louisville, and he was just sitting there, Big as Life! Eyes twinkling, Ho, Ho, Ho'ing -WOW!
I got a nod from Lynn Plucknett, confirming that he
was indeed the real Santa. She Knows!

Mandi, did a Great, Great Job bringing in this years Ringing in the Season celebration and deserves special thanks, from all of us. Thanks Mandi! Also deserves a day off!

But, to get Santa himself to visit, Mandi must have called in some very special help!

mandi.jpg
This has to be an extremely busy time of year for Nicholas and I suspect, that nothing short of a phone call from Senator Pankonin himself was necessary to arrange this special visit for Louisville. Dave knows Santa Personally.
He is a man that can get things done.

dave.jpg

All you lucky kids that had a chance to visit with Santa, better write a nice note to our Senator Dave Pankonin and thank him for his help!
