Louisville Art Gallery
6th Annual Winter Solstice Poetry Reading
Sunday afternoon, December 14, 2008
Gallery hours 1 – 5pm, poetry and Lotus Dancers 2 – 5pm,
Suggested donation of a non-perishable food item for the Cass County Food Bank
Dear Art Lover,
Come celebrate the return of the light! This unique winter celebration
includes drumming, poetry, food, drink and belly dancing with the Lotus
Dancers. We moved it up a week this year to avoid the last minute
shopping crunch, so escape the holiday shopping madness and enjoy
fabulous local art in a relaxed setting. Share a favorite poem, or just
sit and enjoy the afternoon. The past poetry afternoons have included
humorous, poignant, insightful, serious and light-hearted fare all in
the same few hours. The Lotus Dancers are professional and
entertaining, and in the past have been known to give a few lessons to
those brave enough to try their hand (or should I say hips!) at some of
the movements. This is a free event, but the donation of a
non-perishable food item for the Cass County Food Bank would be greatly appreciated.
I would like to let everyone know that the
Louisville Art Gallery will not be closing down this winter as it has
done in the past. The main reason for this is that a wonderful local
artist named Zach Jones had expressed interest in
having a show, and the only date left available in 2009 was in January.
So, look for information on the opening that should take place around
the third weekend or so of that month, and also think about stopping in
after the holidays have wound down. It can be cold and lonely in
Louisville in the winter, so stop in and I’ll buy you something hot to
drink!
Well, that is finally all for now. Please feel free to pass this along to all of your friends, and if you wish to email me, you can do so at louisvilleartgallery@gmail.com, and if you haven’t been in the Gallery to see “The 7 Year Itch” anniversary show, please make the trip to Louisville as this is a great show and there is still some fantastic work available.
Okay, time to go back to work, so I hope to see you somewhere this weekend. STEVE
PS I almost forgot-Edie Carey returns to the Gallery on Saturday, April 4th. Buy your tickets early, this one sold out fast last year!
