STATE SENATOR PANKONIN ANNOUNCES HE'LL SEEK SECOND TERM
Senator Cites Accomplishments And Trust
Nebraska State Senator Dave Pankonin (District 2) announced today he will seek a second term serving the people of the Second District in the Nebraska Legislature.
Senator Pankonin was first elected in 2006. "It has been an honor and privilege to serve the citizens of District 2 as their state senator for the past three years," Senator Pankonin said. "Serving the constituents of this district has been a truly rewarding experience, and I sincerely appreciate the trust and confidence they have placed in me."
Senator Pankonin was elected by his fellow state senators as chairman of the Legislature's Retirement Systems Committee after serving just two years in the Unicameral. He also serves as vice chairman of the Health and Human Services Committee and is a member of the Banking, Commerce and Insurance Committee. Senator Pankonin also was selected to serve on the Legislature's Committee on Committees, which determines the Legislature's committee assignments. He has established a fiscally responsible voting record over the past three years and his multiple leadership positions are an indication that he is trusted by his colleagues in the Legislature.
Senator Pankonin was instrumental in passing legislation to fund the Nebraska Lied Main Street Program that helped communities in District 2. He sponsored legislation that was enacted to help protect citizens from instances of stockbroker fraud and deception. Senator Pankonin also stood up for his constituents and worked to protect their property against eminent domain action by a governmental subdivision.
"Serving in the Unicameral is a lot of hard work, but being able to represent the people of the Second District and address some of the important issues for our area of the state has been a satisfying experience. I am asking the voters to allow me to continue that service for another term," Senator Pankonin said.
Dave Pankonin and his wife Lori have been married for more than 34 years. They have two children. Son Paul, who is married with two children, is the fifth generation to be employed at the family farm equipment dealership in Lousiville, Nebraska. Daughter Stephanie was married this summer and lives in Hastings, Nebraska. Prior to his election to the Legislature, Senator Pankonin served as Mayor of Louisville, and before that was elected to two terms on the Louisville School Board.
