New Head Football Coach

for the

LOUISVILLE LIONS

2010 Football Season...

Mr. Nick Bausch

img_0161.jpg

Above:  Social studies teacher, Mr. Nick Bausch, receives an award for learning more about Abraham Lincoln this summer.  (This was in an earlier newsletter, you may recall).  Now, he's taking on the role as Head Football Coach at Louisville High School for the upcoming 2010 season.

COACH BAUSCH'S WORDS...

I am very exciting about being afforded the opportunity to step into the head coaching role and work with our kids.  Last year we had a number of young players who had to play.  It's great to watch as they mature as players, athletes and as people.  That is probably the best reward of coaching.  It is my goal to develop our kids, not just as football players, but as people as well.  I think that the lessons that athletics can teach us lend themselves quite well to everyday life.

The team has been working out together 3 days a week at 6 A.M. to prepare for this fall.  I think they understand that there will always be obstacles to overcome and sometimes they may be starting from a disadvantage but that the only thing they can do is just continue to work hard.  At least that is what I hope they understand.

This season should be an exciting one.  We have a new schedule that will allow us to play some teams that we are unfamiliar with.  Our team will still be relatively young as the majority of the team are Freshmen or Sophomores.  I think that is a great opportunity for us to learn from each game and get better every day as we progress through the season.

  GOOD LUCK,

LION FOOTBALL TEAM!

Louisville 6/20 is a united non-profit organization dedicated to helping the 6 victims of the June 20, 2009 accident in South Bend, NE.  This organization is committed to helping the victims and their families deal with the mounting financial and emotional burdens as a result of this tragic accident through local fundraisers, benefits and donations.

2010 Focus
Last year the money raised was split between all 6 victims.  This year we have decided to individualize our goal with all funds being directed toward Margo Marino and her continued improvement both physically and emotionally.  Next year we will reevaluate our goal based on the response and success of this year's events as well as the current needs of the families.

TEA PARTY INFORMATION

402-234-1028
bensonsbk@gmail.com

 COURTESY OF:
Brandon Benson
Nebraska Coordinator
Tea Party Patriots

I volunteered for the Nebraska State Coordinator position with Tea Party Patriots in May. It’s been a challenge, but interesting and rewarding. It’s a great experience to interact with people not only locally, but across the state and discuss what is happening at all levels. I think we’re fortunate that here in Nebraska we have good leaders across the state, especially locally in our Louisville area.

One of the more challenging issues I encounter is the misconceptions about the tea party movement in general. It’s important to understand that there are three national tea party groups. In general these groups share the same views on fiscal policy. The differences are found in social issues and whether or not to endorse candidates.

Personally I felt that Tea Party Patriots was the best group to associate with because they do not endorse candidates. They also do not get so involved in social issues. I think that’s very important for people to understand. I find that many people share the principles Tea Party Patriots champion but are unsure of getting involved because of party loyalty, that is, they’re unsure they can call themselves a registered Republican or Democrat and also be part of the tea party movement at the same time.

That of course leads to the next question – if we don’t endorse candidates than what is the point or purpose of such a group?

The first part of the answer is that we are non-partisan. There are principles, values and traditions that all American share and understand. The problem is that the party politics, mostly on the national level we feel have become corrupted by special interest and favoring those interests results in those shared values and principles taking a backseat. Tea Party Patriots is dedicated to promoting Constitutional government, fiscal responsibility, and free market principles. Our goal is to educate citizens, inform our friends and neighbors, and encourage involvement at all levels to ensure these principles are passed on to future generations and bring our political parties closer to those principles.

So it’s much more than just protests and holding signs. We’re simply trying to motivate people. Remind individuals they can lead themselves and should not rely on government...let alone a single elected official. The American system works best when the people are informed and involved.

Here in Nebraska TPP has been lower on the radar than the other groups. One reason was that there was no state coordinator for the past year. But I have been in contact with all of the local groups across the state and starting in July we’ll really get down to business. Our local group leaders will take part in conference calls to discuss challenges we’re facing and generate ideas. We’ll host events featuring our local leaders and special guests with knowledge about our government and the Constitution. Of course as election season draws near we’ll put a priority on voter information, letting as many people as can know about the candidates running and the issues involved.

Anyone in the Louisville area who would like to be involved with the group they are free to email me at bensonsbk@gmail.com. They can also check out the TPP web site: teapartypatriots.org. On the site they can find links to our Nebraska state group and the various local groups across the state. We can also be found on Facebook under the Nebraska Tea Party Patriots group. I also host an Internet radio program on BlogTalkRadio.com. I try to do a weekly show and share my personal thoughts on the movement and current events.

So whether you’re Republican, Democrat, Independent, or Libertarian...as long as you believe in Constitutional government and fiscal responsibility we’d love to have you on board as part of Tea Party Patriots! An FYI - currently there is no local TPP group. Right now the closest ones are out of Omaha. Maybe someone would be the first volunteer?!

 Newsletter fresh and up-to-date!

   Dear Louisvillians,

“All good things must come to an end.”

I’m sure many of you have heard that phrase or a variation of that phrase at some point or another.  It can be traced clear back to 1374 and a man named Chaucer, so it’s clear that people have felt this way for quite some time.   What do you think?  Do you believe this to be so?  What would this apply to in your life?

For some, it’s the end of an era.  College World Series baseball fans had to bid a final farewell to their beloved Rosenblatt Stadium as the final bats were swung in the 2010 CWS.  Starting next year, the CWS will relocate.  Some might be excited and happy for the change while others may be a bit more reluctant about the shift.  One way or the other though, change was inevitable, and the end did come for this tradition.  How many of you were able to catch a game during the final season at Rosenblatt?

On another note, the 4th of July has come and gone and with it, all of the food and fireworks that were a part of your celebrations.  Walking around town, it’s difficult to miss the remnants of the shows that you put on for your family and friends.  The garbage cans were filled with the boxes and wrappings of these fireworks that made your celebrations so extraordinary.   But, it will all be a memory now…that is, unless your shows were put on hold due to the inclement weather!

One other thing that the media has reminded us about:  summer’s end.  It’s like clockwork every year.  The 5th of July arrives, and the school supplies are unpacked to replace all of the patriotic gear.  Have any of you seen or heard ads advertising the back-to-school specials yet?  Have you been to any stores where notebooks and crayons are luring you to begin that back-to-school shopping?  So, really, is summer almost gone?  Do we really have to kiss this one goodbye already?  It seems kind of early to me; what do you think?

Whether it’s now or in several weeks, it’s certain that “all good things must come to an end.”  But, then again, with endings, come new beginnings too, right?  But, wait, that’s a different story.

Have a wonderful week of endings and beginnings, Louisvillians!

Your Louisville Editor,

Paula
