Cass County Crush Wins Twice at Syracuse; Place Fifth in Tourney (8-28-10)

Cass County Central defeated Southern High School, 3-2, finishing in fifth place in the eight team Syracuse Invitational. The Crush lost their first game in the tourney, 3-2, to the host Rockets before defeating Johnson County Central, 10-0.

Crush Bats Are Hot in 13-0 Win, Mohler No-Hits T-Birds (8-26-10)

Cass County Central broke loose for 13 first inning runs on 10 hits and six Johnson County Central errors en route to a 13-0 victory in the season's home opener at A-G Field. The run totals represent team records for runs scored in an inning, breaking the mark of 9 against South Sioux City in 2009, and game total of 12 against South Sioux in both 2008 and 2009.

After 10 years of volunteering as your local American Red Cross coordinator, I have decided it is time to give up this position. It has been a great 10 years watching the community come in every 3 months and donate blood. I have met so many caring and giving people in the town, and I'm happy to say they have become friends to me over the years. I thank every one of you for taking time out of your schedule to come in and save one more life!!

I have a blood drive the end of September and I am looking for someone or an organization that would be willing to work with me, so that when the blood drive is held in December, this person/organization can take over completely.

If you have any questions that you would like to ask, please email or call me.

Again, thanks for all the support the community has given me in helping me run the drives. If it wasn't for you coming in, I would never have met my goals over the years.

The Lincoln Squadron of the Naval Sea Cadet Corps is looking for students (10-18) who have an interest in the Sea, the Navy or other military services. This is a voluntary youth organization with no commitment to future military service. Lincoln Squadron drills one weekend per month at Camp Ashland in Ashland NE. Dear Louisvillians,

Ahh...Labor Day Weekend.

I'm sure I don't need to remind you that this upcoming weekend is Labor Day weekend and that many of us will have an extra day tacked on to our weekends next Monday.

What do you plan to do with your extra day and time? What will you do to celebrate Labor Day? Do your plans involve a Husker football game or get-together? Do you plan to enjoy a picnic with family over the weekend? Perhaps, you'll get one last swim in at the local pools around the area. Or, you may be planning to attend a Louisville sporting event. Perhaps you'll break out that pair of white pants or shorts...after all, fashion gurus tell us that Labor Day is the last time that it's "acceptable" to don this summer color! Perhaps you'll be laboring over Labor Day weekend...to those of you who have to work, thank you for all that you do and all the time and effort you give of yourself to make our community and world better.

Whatever it is you decide to do, enjoy your "last official weekend of the summer."
