Dear Louisvillians,

It's time for a little trivia.
Who knows what is happening this upcoming weekend?
Who is anxious for an "extra hour?"
Who knows the history behind this autumn tradition?

Well, in case you're in the dark, I'll fill you in...perhaps you'll learn a little bit, like I did.  In light of Daylight Savings ending  this weekend on Sunday, November 7 at 2:00 a.m., I wanted to know a little bit of history about this event, so I did some searching on history.com and timeanddate.com.  Here's is a small sampling of what I found:

1.  Daylight Savings Time began on February 9, 1942.
2.  President Roosevelt suggested this and the act could be traced back to WWI, when Congress imposed one standard time on the U.S. to enable the country to better utilize resources.
3.  Originally, Benjamin Franklin suggested Daylight Savings Time in 1784
Many people also suggest that changing your clocks is an excellent time to check fire alarms and smoke detectors as well.  Why not pick up a couple of extra batteries and ensure that your home and family is safe during the upcoming winter months?  Enjoy the extra hour of sleep this weekend...even if daylight ends and dark seems to envelop the day.
    Have a wonderful week, Louisvillians!
