Comments:
We do not consider this a loss.  We played very well and more under control against a spread pressure defense.  A few too many turnovers early but rallied and became more aggressive on the offensive end.  We looked to attack from the guard position and had come great passes off the dribble drive and on the interior.  Minchow gave us a great spark off the bench in the first half and played very well.  As did Coughlin in her ability to attack the hoop and find the open man or hitting her shot.  Dittberner did well to attack the hoop and get to the foul line.  Shelby Johnson played very well for Yutan in hitting her outside shot and creating opportunities for others.
Our inside of Mohler, Drake and Manley played solid and rebounded and defended well, with good minutes from Zaracki and Lane.  Played a good zone defense and rebounded well out of it.  We gave ourselves an opportunity to win but just didn't get it done.  Very proud of the job our girls did and how their attitude has been through this tough two week stretch.  We've played 8 games in just over two weeks and have developed more strength because of it.  We now get a week to get our legs back and get a new beginning to the rest of our season.  We are very excited for our opportunities here in the near future.

Lofte Community Theatre

P.O. Box 62

Manley,  NE  68403

(402) 234-2553

leavingiowa

The Lofte Community Theatre near Manley will hold auditions for “Leaving Iowa” on January 31 and February 1 at 7pm.  The production requires three men and three women.  Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.  The production will be directed by Kevin Colbert of Weeping Water.

“Leaving Iowa” is the story of Don Browning, a middle-aged writer who decides it is finally time to take his father’s ashes to his childhood home.  But when Don discovers that Grandma’s house is now a grocery store, he begins traveling across Iowa searching for a proper resting place for his father.  The father-and-son road trip shifts smoothly from the present to Don’s memories of the annual tortuous vacations of his childhood.

The production will serve as the Lofte’s entry in the upcoming Nebraska Association of Community Theaters competition March 18-20.  It will also be the 2011 season opener for the Lofte with performance dates on May 28, 29, June 3-5 and 9-12.

Those with questions in regards to the production should contact Lofte Artistic Director Kevin Colbert at (402) 234-2553.

Dear Louisvillians,
Herman Melville said,
"We cannot live only for ourselves.  A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow men."

Perhaps some of those fibers are the snowflakes that saturate our driveways and sidewalks.  Maybe it is the white blanket of winter that owns the right to friendships emerging during bitterly cold snowy Sunday mornings in Louisville, Nebraska.  Do you suppose it is the snow that creates neighborly camraderie and companionship aside the roaring rumble of the snow blower and the sudden scrapes of snow shovels in the cold winter air?
I'm not sure about you and your neighbors, but, we experienced the beauty of neighborly kindness on Sunday morning while working in the winter wonderland that Saturday's snowstorm left for us.  A kind neighbor of ours offered the services of his snowblower, while my wonderful husband toiled with the manual shovel.  A generous city worker scooped that extra ridge of snow from our driveway that piled up after the main street was plowed.  We were so humbled by the generous outpouring of kindness and selflessness this weekend.  Maybe you were too?  Perhaps it is the storms that really bring together the neighbors and allow those snippets of conversation to seep through the property lines which divide us.  Perhaps these are the opportunities that remind us that we are not living alone on our block, our street, our neighborhood, our town, our county, our state, our nation and our world...we are linked to those we are living with...connected by fibers, visible and invisible, in an effort to create a COMMUNITY.
I am so proud, once again, to say that I'm a Louisvillian.

Enjoy your snowy January days, Louisvillians!  :)
