Louisville Kindergarten Get-Together 2011
Louisville Public Schools will host its annual Kindergarten Parent Orientation Thursday, March 24 at 7:00 pm in the elementary computer lab and Kindergarten Get-Together Friday, March 25 in the kindergarten rooms. All children who will be five years of age on or before October 15, 2011 are eligible for enrollment in kindergarten for the 2011-2012 school year.
Letters about the orientation and get-together will be sent out to all parents of children who are presently recorded on the school census as being old enough to enter kindergarten in August. If anyone in the community is aware of any parents who have children who will be entering kindergarten, are new to the district or who did not receive letter are encouraged to contact the Louisville Elementary office at 234-4215.

NEWS and UPCOMING DATES:

** Thanks to everyone who complied with regulations regarding snow and for keeping your sidewalks clear! Thank you to the city road crews for snow removal! They've definitely been working overtime this winter season!)
** The city's annual PET CLINIC will be held April 2, 2011 from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. at the fir station. Get your pets licensed and vaccinated all at the same time.
** The fire/rescue departments are having FISH FRIES this Lenten season. Dates will be announced!
** Fire Auxiliary Plant Sale-- Saturday, May 7th at the Fire Hall
** B.U.I.L.D. is looking for nominations for the annual LOV awards! Please take the time to honor those that do so much for our community!
** Waste Management is here EVERY Wednesday for trash and recycle pick-up!
** SPRING CLEAN-UP is scheduled for May 7, 2011 at the corner of 3rd and Walnut. More information to come!
** Don't forget that you do need a building permit (required for fences, porches, patios, home additions, swimming pools, accessory structures, retaining walls, remodeling, electrical and plumbing and location of curb cuts and sidewalks).

Shumaker Earns ECNC Gold (2-4-11)
Louisville sophomore Tyler Shumaker earned a gold medal at 171 pounds
at the East Central Nebraska Conference Wrestling Invitational. LHS placed seventh in the 11 team field.
Anderson Leads LHS to ECNC Tourney Win (2-3-11)
Louisville boys 34, Mead 21
Louisville scored a 34-21 victory over the Mead Raiders in the consolation bracket
of the ECNC Basketball Tournament at Southeast Community College.
Lions Lose to Yutan in ECNC Tourney (2-3-11)
Yutan 54, Louisville girls 39
Yutan earned a trip to the semifinals of the ECNC
Girls Basketball Tournament with a 54-39 victory over the Louisville Lions.

Championship fiddler
Championship fiddler and fiddle book author, Deborah Greenblatt, will discuss various ways to perform that classic fiddle tune, Orange Blossom Special. This wonderful piece encourages improvisation, giving the fiddler opportunities to make their fiddle sound just like a train. The Workshop takes place on Saturday, March 19, 2011, 1 PM - 3 PM, in the Old Avoca Schoolhouse, Avoca, Nebraska. Pre-registration is required, enrollment is limted, and there is a $20.00 fee. MISSING DOG
Our yellow lab "Gunner" has been missing since Nov. 15 he is an intact 90 lb. 3 yr. old male. Gunner is muscular with a large blocky head, his back is a darker yellow with a lighter shade on his underside. He was last spotted the evening he went missing around 22nd and F st in South Omaha. OTOE COUNTY GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY
Otoe County Genealogical Society will host its February 10th meeting at 7:00pm at the Unadilla Community Library at 770 'G' Street in Unadilla, Nebraska. A presentation titled "Researching Your Civil War Ancestors" will be given to assist researchers in not only locating information about their Civil War ancestors, but also in the procedures of joining the Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War, and Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War.”
