Louisville Public Library Edible Book Festival

Let’s have some fun!

What: Create an Edible book simply by creating something edible that is some- how book-related. Think book titles, characters, plots, literary figures, puns on book titles, etc. For inspiration check out Pinterest.com “Edible Books”.

Who: Participation is open to anyone! Anyone can enter or just stop by and enjoy the Edible Books Festival! Vote for your favorite in each of the categories and age groups.

When: the Last Hot Sunday in July

Where: Louisville Public Library * 217 Main Street * Louisville, NE.

WizardOz

"The Wizard of Oz" Opens at Lofte Theatre

Manley, NE [July 3, 2014] - The Lofte Community Theatre in Manley announces that ‘The Wizard of Oz,’ will open on their stage on Friday, July 18. Adapted from the book by L. Frank Baum with music and lyrics from the MGM motion picture, this is the story of little Dorothy Gale of Kansas who dreams of what lies over the rainbow. When a twister hits her farm and carries her into another world, we see Dorothy meet the Scarecrow, the Tinman, the Cowardly Lion and many other memorable characters on her journey through Oz.

Directed by Kevin Colbert, the production stars Becca LuAnn Stouder of Omaha as Dorothy. Caleb Schmucker of Waverly plays the Scarecrow, Andrew Miner of Omaha plays the Tinman and Erik Quam of Omaha plays the Cowardly Lion. Glinda the Good Witch is played by Catherine Bobst of Lincoln and the Wicked Witch of the West is played by Donna Urbanski of Louisville.

‘Wizard’ runs July 18-20, 24-27, 31 and August 1-3. All shows begin at 7:30pm except for Sundays which are 2pm matinees. All seats are reserved and tickets are $19. There is a special luncheon event on July 20, 27 and August 3. For a $20 donation, patrons can eat with Dorothy and her friends at the “Yellow Brick Bistro.” Located on the Lofte’s main stage, patrons will be served an Oz-themed picnic lunch and visit with the main characters. The bistro opens at 12pm which allows plenty of time for pictures and conversation. Lunch is served in a keepsake picnic basket which Dorothy can autograph for you. Patrons do not have to attend the play to come to the luncheon event.

Beginning with the Wed 5/21/2014 Newsletter all of the Communities will be able to post, buy, sell ads for general merchandise such as mowers, baby cribs, cars, computers and Real Estate.
We especially hope that the classified ads will be used to post Jobs, look for positions, and post special events, birthdays, church events and Garage Sales.

Certainly there are lots of places on the Internet to post ads, but I know that some folks are uncomfortable with using EBay or Craigs List - this is just your neighbors and should be a bit less scary.

Step 1: you do need to have an account, and an email address to manage your ads. You will be notified to renew your ad, you can change info, pricing, and pics as long as you have this account.

Step 2: create an ad, indicate if it is Elmwood, Eagle, Louisville and Alvo and post it

Step 3: wait for approval. We will approve ads as close to immediately as possible. We need to take a quick peek and make sure that it is a real ad, and if anything needs fixing we will fix it.

Step 4: post it to Facebook if you like!

Ads will now show everywhere, regardless if it was posted in Elmwood or Alvo. Our number one request was to post once, and make it visible everywhere. Ads will also be Goggle/Twitter searchable as well as location, travel directions searchable.

So, get cracking! Create that account, and post everything in your garage and basement!
