Last Hot Sunday in July 2014

Mayor’s Choice– John Kempf from Bellevue, NE. with his 1963 Nomad.

People’s Choice – Sam Schneider’s 1957 Chevy.

Dee & Nancy’s Choice – Rose & Gary Stienblock, they have been to 9 of our car shows!
We had a GREAT turnout for the 10th annual Last Hot Sunday in July car show! 228 classic, new and “works-in-progress” cars lined the streets for the picture-perfect day in Louisville. The DJ, Brian Finch from Finch on the Run kept the crowd entertained with a wide variety of music – he makes the show so special every year! We would like to thank all of the volunteers who helped with the show this year: LPS National Honor Society; John, Sean and Rafael from Ash Grove; Kevin from Mill Creek Auto; Home State Bank; all the miscellaneous volunteers too numerous to mention; and especially Trevor Fiala for his willingness to shadow us this year and officially “take over” next year. We are comforted in knowing we are placing our “baby” in good hands!!
Thanks also to the Louisville residents and out-of-town visitors for supporting this B.U.I.L.D. event! And put it on your calendar for next year – it’s always the Last Hot Sunday in July!
Thanks again,
Dee & Nancy

Celebrating the Dynamic Duo

Last Sunday saw the tremendous success of the 10th Annual "Last Hot Sunday in July". This event was originally conceived by BUILD member Steve Sherman and owner of the Louisville Art Gallery. The success of this annual event has been amazing and Louisville took it's place as one of the Traditional Summer Car Show destinations. The single most valuable commodity in a town the size of Louisville is volunteer energy, and participation.
All good things we enjoy depend on this valuable commodity and with that in mind we celebrate the "retirement" of the "Dynamic Duo" of Dee Arias and Nancy McManis. Pretty much every single Community Event in the last 15 years has been managed, supported, coached, guided, organized by this amazing team and LHSIJuly is only one example.
The retiring of this energetic pair should send a chill down your neck and create an immediate call to action. If you are one of those folks that enjoys the life that Louisville Offers with it's rich compliment of events and programs, but you never contribute your time and energy - it is probably time to call Terri Scholting at BUILD at 402-234-2504 and ask what you can do. Speaking of stepping forward to contribute: Join us and Congratulate Trevor Fiala as the new head master of the Last Hot Sunday in July annual event!

The American Red Cross calls on eligible donors with all blood types to help maintain a sufficient blood supply this summer
OMAHA, Neb. (July 15, 2014) — The American Red Cross encourages all eligible blood donors to make an appointment to donate blood soon to help prevent a shortage.
During the summer months, on average, about two fewer donors give blood at each Red Cross blood drive than what is needed to meet the needs of patients. Vacations and summer activities are among the reasons regular donors may not find the time to give. But, patients don’t get a vacation from needing blood – the need is constant.
As a national network, the Red Cross has a unique responsibility to help ensure blood is available for patients whenever and wherever it is needed. By donating blood or platelets through the Red Cross, donors may be helping patients in their community or patients across the nation.
Red blood cells have a shelf life of only 42 days and platelets just five days, so they must constantly be replenished.
To learn more and make an appointment to donate blood, visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS.
Upcoming blood donation opportunities:
