Louisville Welcomes New Mayor Behrns - Praises Alan Mueller
Incumbent Louisville Mayor Alan Mueller and his wife recently purchased a home on an acreage that is just outside of the City Limits. According to our code book, the Mayor must be a resident of the City. For this reason On 10/8/2014 Council President Roger Behrns was sworn in as Mayor of the City of Louisville Nebraska for balance of the term; until December of 2016.
Many people came forward to express appreciation for the outstanding leadership that Mayor Mueller demonstrated during a critical and sometimes troubling 8 years. According to Dee Arias; "Alan became Mayor on November 8, 2006 to fill the vacancy caused by senator Dave Pankonin’s resignation until his term ended in December 2008. He was reelected in Nov. 2008 and again in Nov. 2012. The Council President, Roger Behrns according to state statute, automatically moves to Mayor until the term is up – in this case Dec. 2016."
Build President - Teri Scholting praised Alan and stated that the business Community represented by BUILD very much appreciated Alan's countless valuable contributions to the Community. She stated that Alan has left Louisville Healthy and prosperous. It could be recognized that the period of December 2006 until present represented some of the most challenging conditions that any small town could face; from Recession, Business Failure, unemployment to the Loss of our Iconic Hardware store that symbolized to many the Heart of our small Community.
I spoke to Alan Mueller by phone, and he diverted praise from himself to people like Dan Henry, Dee Arias and a strong, dedicated and talented City Council - as well as the People of Louisville. "This is the end of a Chapter for me and it was time to turn the page." Alan said. "I am not going anywhere, I will still be here to help if I am needed. Glad to Do It." He said.
Louisville's New Mayor the honorable Roger Behrns is a lifetime Louisville Resident, Environmental Manager at Ash Grove and is Married to Linda Behrns the Executive Director of the Keep Cass County Beautiful Program
